Grammar Made Simple – Present Simple Tense - Easy Guide for Beginners

Today we are learning the Present Simple Tense. Don’t worry—it is very easy.

🟒 When do we use Present Simple?

We use Present Simple to talk about:

  • Daily actions

  • Habits

  • General truths

Examples:

  • I go to school every day.

  • She drinks tea in the morning.

  • The sun rises in the east.


🟒 Formula

Subject + Verb (base form) + Object

Examples:

  • I play football.

  • They watch TV.

  • You read books.

πŸ‘‰ But for he, she, it, we add -s or -es to the verb:

  • He plays football.

  • She watches TV.

  • It rains in April.


🟒 Examples in Sentences

  • I eat rice every day.

  • We live in Colombo.

  • She speaks English well.

  • The teacher teaches math.
